beauty in blue: yamaha TW200 street tracker bike by purpose built moto

bathed in a popping blue color, this yamaha TW200 motorcycle from 2006 has been transformed by purpose built moto. the brief was to turn it into an ‘urban assault vehicle’ and far away from looking like its typecast use as a farm bike. the custom workshop translated this into a street tracker that, most importantly, better fits its long swingarm.

tidying up the rear frame, the first task of the yamaha TW200 customization by purpose built moto was to replace its original small tank with a large option. the shock was then removed, rebuilt and fabricated with new mounts on the frame, which moved it back into the body to create more room for an oversized FCR carburetor. then, with the 19’ front and 15’ rear wheels replaced by 17’ shinko hook-up drag tyres, the silhouette began to match the original’s long swingarm.

with the refitted design, the custom workshop began focusing on the details, especially at the front: first, the aluminum front fender was lowered onto the new wheel; a 7’ headlight and a set of black dome LED indicators were added; the anodized renthal handlebars were fitted with three button switches, blue grips and ISR brake levers; and a 48mm and 60mm daytona velona gauges were mounted on the side for fun. at the rear, a custom exhaust with a 1.5’ torpedo muffler rises up underneath the seat. it aligns with the minimal all-in-one brake/tail/turn lights.

the original saddle was replaced by a leather and alcantara one that better hugs the frame. it adorns an asymmetrical stitch pattern by timeless autotrim. with the design complete, the workshop then coated the frame, brackets, hubs and front disc with a vibrant popping blue. a retro stripe of satin black and faded blue then decks the tank.
