winnebago's mercedes-benz revel 4x4 camper van is built for off-roading

winnebago unveils its new, compact, practical home on wheels that can tackle the toughest of terrain – ‘the revel’. based on a mercedes-benz 4×4 ‘sprinter’ platform, it is designed to take outdoor enthusiasts to places that most other motorhomes typically can’t. the american-manufacturer’s off-road camper van is a self-sufficient mobile home, ready to live off-the-grid.

the interior architecture of winnebago’s ‘revel’ boasts several high-tech amenities including a power-lift bed, a compressor refrigerator, a dinette with a pull-up table, an electric galley, and a wet-bath that doubles as a gear closet, plus 140 cubic-feet of storage space, while on the roof a solar-power-system helps to provide the power. the mercedes platform offers an on-demand four-wheel-drive system, in conjunction with a high / low range, and a ‘hill descent’ mode. it’s powered by the a 3-liter turbo diesel engine putting out 325 lb-ft of torque.

‘the revel is a true 4×4 RV,’ comments russ garfin, winnebago’s director of product management. he continues, ‘the amenities and features of the coach allow for comfortable exploration of remote places.’
