limited to just 88 models, the aston martin V12 speedster supercar debuts with a powerful engine, aeronautical design but not with a windshield. it leaves the two-seater as an open-top model, heightened by senses and aiming to truly be a ‘stunning driver’s car’. created by the british marque’s bespoke customization service ‘Q by aston martin’, the design builds upon – and exceeds – their rich racing history by adorning a conceptual F/A-18 jet livery.

the aston martin V12 speedster enhances expertise from the DBS superleggera and vantage models, as it is constructed from a bonded aluminum architecture, double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension with coil springs. above this unique chassis, the bespoke body is forged almost entirely from carbon fiber. the result defines a highly sculptural design that is finished in a skyfall silver color, which contrasts dramatically with its satin black exhaust tips, aggressive vent grilles and vanes.

with the V12 speedster we do go back a step and look into our past for inspiration. there’s clear lineage from the 1959 le mans winning DBR1 to our centenary celebratory CC100 speedster concept in 2013. there is also a bit of 1953 DB3S in the mid-section, so it really is our latest incarnation of the speedster concept, states miles nurnberger, director of design, aston martin lagonda.

no roof or screen, a big engine, low, with broad shoulders and exaggerated and emotional styling with twin humps and the spine separating the driver and passenger. the light, low, rear end contrasts with the bold, enlarged grille, unique headlights and bonnet nostril at the front. the bonnet nostril we haven’t done in a very long time, but we’ve brought them back. it’s a neat trick visually to allow us to win some space for the V12. it creates this iconic looking vent, concludes nurnberger.

into the open cockpit, the interior merges traditional and modern materials to link not only to the brand’s heritage but also reference its continued direction forward. a visually and physically lightweight architecture of structural satin carbon fiber contrasts with the hand-crafted saddle leather, chrome, aluminum and even 3D printed rubber elements. from the technical textile to the carpet, the entire cabin is decked in a dark theme that is interspersed with one or two vivid additions red, such as the scripted door pulls.

such as the removal of the windscreen, the design of the aston martin V12 speedster only aims to accentuate our driving experience. within, it holds an all-powerful 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine with 700 hp and 753 nm of torque. this is mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmissions with a limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels. in typical aston martin style, its power pushes the supercar from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and to a top speed limited at 186 mph.
