waymo plans world's first self-driving electric vehicle with jaguar I-PACE

following its world debut at the geneva motor show 2018, the jaguar ‘I-PACE’ takes its advanced technology another step further to become the world’s first self-driving electric vehicle. announced at the new york international auto show 2018 (NYIAS), the british car manufacturer has agreed a long-term partnership with google’s waymo, with the ambition of adding the vehicle’s to their driverless transportation service. up to 20,000 models are set to join the fleet, which already include thousands of FCA ‘pacificas’, between road-testing in 2018 and fully operational in 2020.

jaguar land rover and waymo’s partnership aims to further the two brand’s shared goals: to make cars safer, free up people’s valuable time and improve mobility for everyone. with the jaguar ‘I-PACE’ model, the driverless fleet will feature the british brand’s first fully electric production car, which merges dynamic sports performance with efficiency. the imminently scheduled on-road testing will capture real-world data that will help refine self-driving technology further and deliver optimum safety and reliability.
