volvo 360C autonomous car concept is a bedroom, living space and work office on wheels

swedish car maker volvo unveiled its latest concept car dubbed the 360c, an all-electric, autonomous vehicle that could transform the way we travel and commute. the 360 concept has four potential functions: as a sleeping environment, mobile office, living room and entertainment space, all uses envisioned during driving time.

the volvo 360c comprises a modular interior with a glass dome on wheels. full mobile connectivity enables relevant information to be projected onto the windows where that be for enetertainment or work. the concept is really a conversation piece with a lot of its specifics yet to be determined. it could replace red-eye flights and transform the way we spend our time on the road turning your work commute into a much more productive time.

‘the business will change in the coming years and volvo should lead that change of our industry,’ said volvo cars president and CEO håkan samuelsson. ‘autonomous drive will allow us to take the big next step in safety but also open up exciting new business models and allow consumers to spend time in the car doing what they want to do.‘

volvo says the 360c would create new demand for inter-city taxi passengers travelling as far as 300 km (186 miles). it claims the car will feature level 5 autonomy, removing the need for a human driver and by the looks of the video will feature some sort of digital assistant. it uses a system of light and audio signals to notify pedestrians and other cars about the its’ movements – a system volvo hopes will become the standard ‘in how autonomous vehicles can safely communicate with all other road users.’ volvo is eyeing a 2021 release date with ambitious views for the 360c, believing it could revolutionize short-haul air travel, city dwelling and our environmental footprint.
