Refreshed TS ultra verge motorcycles on the road

Verge Motorcycles is revamping the next generation of its TS Ultra model. Moving forward, all of the electric motorcycles in this series are equipped with six cameras and high-resolution front and rear radars that use artificial intelligence and machine learning to give the vehicle a sense of sight. The entrance of the revamped models, which were unveiled at the recently ended CES 2024, came as a step-up from the Verge TS electric in 2020, the superbike designed by F1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen, and the seasonal California edition of the TS Pro.

The advanced software and intelligence platform powering all Verge TS Ultra electric motorcycles is named StarMatter. Powered by data, powerful processing, and new sensory capabilities, StarMatter gives birth to machine-learning models that transform the predecessors of Verge TS Ultra into intelligent electric motorcycles with decision-making skills. Since the new models are equipped with smart built-in hardware, the Verge TS Ultra electric motorcycles can receive over-the-air or online updates, which is similar to updating a smartphone.

Electric motorcycles with human-machine interface

The new electric TS Ultra models from Verge Motorcycles have a Human Machine Interface too, which allows the riders to control the behavior of the vehicle using buttons. Using this, they can customize their ride modes, manage the charging settings, control the ride’s core, and check the diagnostics of the motorcycle. The new model’s GPS and accelerometer are upgraded along with the installation of cellular connection, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities. Looking at the dash display, the box-sized screen flashes the riding information, while the intuitive physical handlebar controls can activate the different ride modes and the new self-heating hand grips for colder seasons.

Because of the advanced hardware of the new Verge TS Ultra electric motorcycles and their six cameras and high-quality front and rear radars, the systems can now detect vehicles that are nearby the motorcycle and other obstacles further away. In fact, Verge Motorcycles says that the upgraded TS Ultra can identify potential road hazards and accidents such as a car approaching from behind at a high speed. The system immediately alerts the rider of the situation, so they can avoid escalation. When they also turn left or right, the dash display automatically pulls up the camera feed of their surroundings to assist the riders in their blind spots when they make a turn.

custom ride mode that restricts maximum speed

Verge Motorcycles also adds features such as advanced traction control, ABS, and custom limits to the new TS Ultra models. Riders are afforded an anti-brake-locking system to prevent lock-ups, a traction control system that limits torque to maintain the ride’s grip, and a custom ride mode where the riders can restrict the maximum speed and torque of the motorcycle and suit their cruising pace. For riders who long bring lots of their belongings with them on the road, the lockable storage compartment below the single seat may accommodate them. There, they can also find a USB-C port to charge their devices while cruising.

Verge Motorcycles stays true to this hubless motor design. Even with the new upgrades, the TS Ultra models have no traditional moving parts such as chains, belts, and cogwheels, and no gearbox oils or cooling liquids which can lead to ‘almost zero maintenance,’ as the brand describes it. In terms of digital maintenance, the refreshed hardware’s remote diagnostics and over-the-air software updates can help regularly improve the superbike. Specs-wise, the electric motorcycle boasts a range of up to 375 kilometers on a single charge and can deliver 1,200 Nm of torque.
