vanmoof unveils electrified X ebike tailored to the streets of tokyo

with the latest addition to their collection, vanmoof combines its simplistic dutch roots from the electrified S with some japanese panache to form the electrified X smart ebike. the launch of the new model marks vanmoof’s debut in japan, and fittingly, the ride is designed to be apt for commuting on the streets of tokyo. the next-generation smart bicycle confronts everything the megacity might throw at it—from traffic jams, clever bicycle thieves, and all the rider’s natural enemies and headwinds.

the sheer scale of the japanese megacity poses no threat to vanmoof’s electrified X, whose battery can travel up to a distance of 120 kmh on a single charge. the bike’s electric drive assistance powers the angular frame up to speeds of 24 kmh, driven by a 250 W motor. to outsmart even the wittiest of thieves, the bicycle’s keyless dashboard automatically recognizes its owner and unlocks smoothly. should the electrified X ever be stolen, anti-theft smart technology is integrated into the frame of the bike, meaning its whereabouts can be tracked from anywhere in the city. yet a single glance at the electrified X and you can rest assured that its high functionality does not compromise the bicycle’s aesthetic, which pops with bright colors and elegant angles.
