for anyone who has ever tried to take a call whilst wearing ski gloves and a helmet, UNIT 1 has come to your rescue. the group has set out to combine headphones and helmet into one seamless design, eliminating the problem of an audio kit or earbuds slamming uncomfortably against your ears when practicing sports. aptly named SOUNDSHIELD, UNIT 1’s latest product is an extreme sports helmet with integrated wireless headphones that easily dock in and out of the helmet for separate use. the device allows extreme athletes to tune into music and take calls without worrying about wires getting caught up or earphones falling out when moving.

SOUNDSHIELD — currently seeking funding on indiegogo — has just one simple button and volume dial control that is easy to use and works even through thick gloves to allow the wearer to pause, skip tracks and take calls whilst on the move. UNIT 1 has specially designed the interface, taking into consideration that you can’t see the headphones when using them, so instead employing a button-tap system for control of the device. the headphones can play up to 16 hours of music without any need to charge, and are able to stream via bluetooth.
