the social media company instagram inc have created ‘hyperlapse‘, an app which enables users to make their own time lapse videos by using their iOS devices. this was previously impossible without employing heavy tripods and costly equipment, but is now thanks to the built-in stabilization technology. this automatic equalization gives your footage a cinematic feeling in high quality resolution and can be shared on both instagram and facebook, or saved to your camera roll.

time lapse videos can be filmed while you are walking, running, jumping, falling or even when riding on the back of a motorcycle. the motion picture can be quickened up to 12 times the speed and smooths activities like a 5k run, sunrise or car journey into short clips. the instagram ‘hyperlapse’ app is available for download from the 26th august for compatible iOS smartphones and tablets.
