Tesla has finally revealed its first real model of the Cybertruck after two years of delay and four years since it was announced to the public. The Cybertruck was built inside its Giga Texas factory, and Tesla shared a photo of the unveiling in a Twitter post, which was also shared by Elon Musk, congratulating his Texas team for their work. The image shows the employees surrounding the car design, revealing parts of its hilly shape, wide and tinted windows, and the glimmering steel-clad car frame.

The Cybertruck was first introduced to the public in 2019, and since then, Elon Musk and Tesla fans have eagerly awaited its release. Originally scheduled for production in 2021, it was later pushed back to 2022. Then, around June 2022, Elon Musk announced that Tesla was aiming for a mid-2023 production launch. With the reveal of the first model of the Cybertruck, the company might stick to the most recent schedule, implying a possible official reveal of the vehicle in late 2023.

Details about cybertruck’s specs are still up in the air

The announcement of the first real model of the Cybertruck by Tesla seems to leave some specs still in the dark. On Tesla’s Cybertruck website, the design team describes the vehicle as ‘better than a truck with more performance than a sports car,’ but the details about the car’s engine and power remain unclear. For now, fans are informed that the Giga Texas-built model might have an exterior shell for durability and passenger protection. It also seems that Cybertruck’s exterior is flexible for custom design as Musk shared a picture of a personalized and with fans even carpeting it with wooden panels.

Tesla also mentions that its exoskeleton is ‘nearly impenetrable and every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to Tesla armor glass.’ The design team believes that the car’s smooth monochrome exoskeleton can help eliminate dents, damage, and long-term corrosion, but these elements are still yet to be tested. The ultra-strong glass and polymer-layered composite are also believed to be able to absorb and redirect impact force for improved performance and damage tolerance, but Tesla is yet to report on these with the first real Cybertruck model.

Tesla fans comment on the first cybertruck

On July 8th, 2023, Elon Musk posted a picture of the first real Cybertruck model on his Twitter and captioned it with ‘just drove Cybertruck around Austin!’ Enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for the reveal, or just want to see it, quickly added their two cents to the post. One commenter asked Musk to add a turret attachment to the car to make it look like a military armored vehicle with gun-dedicated space, to which the Tesla owner himself responded with a simple ‘Sure.’

Others noticed that if they zoomed in on the image, there was a slight gap or slit at the front monochrome exoskeleton of the vehicle. Whether it was intentional or not, Musk is yet to reply to the observation. Some joined the discussion by saying that while they do not focus on the aesthetics of the car, they do care about whether or not the Cybertruck can deliver its features and specs (and if the truck-car can really be delivered in the near future).
