French company SunStyle has invented a new type of solar panel that harvests clean renewable energy while blending seamlessly with the original design of any building. Drawing from the traditional slate shingle roofs of the Swiss Alpine region, the dragonscale pattern of the solar roof lays flat on any roof, to offer protection, functionality, and harmonious aesthetics. 

 

According to the developers, the system has an extremely low profile and can be stylishly integrated into any structure, even those with complex roof layouts, taking into account the unique shape and any protrusions such as chimneys or skylights.

diamond laying technique and easy installation

 

SunStyle’s solar roofing solution converts unlimited solar energy into electrical energy without compromising a the original design of a building. ‘Our aim is to ensure that the appearance of the roofscape is maintained,’ the French company explains. The system is installed with a diamond laying technique that adapts to all roof shapes, creating a uniform and harmonious appearance. This laying method also provides the roof with stability and better waterproofing. On the other hand, the low thickness of the roof allows it to fit perfectly into the building and blend into the landscape. According to the team, the system is very easy to install because the solar tiles are lightweight and the electrical connections on the back of the shingles ensure uncomplicated and safe wiring. The system can be integrated with any technology, allowing users to choose their preferred electronics and battery storage.

 

The tiles consist of several solar cells capable of converting the sun’s rays into energy. These cells are protected by a structured glass plate. The energy production capacity depends on the color: 115 Wp if it is a black tile and 85 Wp if it is a colored tile. In addition to the characteristic diamond-shaped solar shingles, inactive shingles without solar cells are installed in areas without sunlight. Energy-producing edge tiles provide the ideal roof finish and maximize energy production. With color-coordinated aluminum composite panels that can be cut to size on site, the system can be perfectly adapted to special roof shapes.
