subaru introduces upgraded WRX and WRX STI models at NAIAS 2017

NAIAS 2017: japanese auto firm subaru debuts its upgraded US-spec WRX and WRX STI models at the annual north american international auto show held in detroit, michigan. the major update places a focus on driving performance, safety, and practicality with revised front styling and interior materials. as with previous incarnations, the 2018 car combines sports performance with the practicality of a four-door sedan. 

subaru’s other major improvements include optimized suspension for enhanced steering stability and ride comfort, and responsive headlights that enhance visibility when driving at night. the WRX integrates subaru’s first auto vehicle hold feature, an innovation designed to reduce driver fatigue by holding the car before smoothly transitioning to acceleration. jurid brake pads further enhance braking performance.

the WRX STI boasts new 19-inch wheels, improved brembo brakes, and revised DCCD all-wheel drive. the DCCD system — which previously used a combination of mechanical and electronic center limited slip differential control — now relies entirely on electronic control for quicker and smoother response. for both models, steering responsive headlights automatically illuminate the road ahead in response to steering input.

both cars share a 2.65 meter (8.69 feet) wheelbase, and have been upgraded internally. black parts have been used for door switch panels, while the WRX STI features red-colored seat belts. new measures such as thicker front door glasses reduce unwanted noise and vibrations. both exteriors include a restyled front fascia, with redesigned LED headlights and a more pronounced grille. the WRX offers a maximum output of 268hp, with WRX STI potentially reaching 305hp.
