what if you could step into someone else’s shoes? developed by lukas gächter, olivia stadler and ramon marc of zürcher hochschule der künste, the ‘stellvertreter’ shoes answer this question with a two component project, that conveys the movement of one person to another. the input sneakers are equipped with a couple of pressure sensors which can record the motion of the wearer. the output footgear feature embedded silicone cushions that in- and deflate according to the recorded actions. the technology is made possible through its shiftr.io platform and the arduino ‘yún’ micro-controller, and aims to enable people to feel loved ones steps whilst they travel around the world and even, to experience a sport star’s strides.
