facebook creative labs have launched their second product, a new app called slingshot. like snapchat, the photo and video sharing platform lets users quickly share everyday moments with many people at once, but theres a catch: friends won’t be able to see your ‘shot’ until they ‘sling’ something back to you. ‘we’ve enjoyed using snapchat to send each other ephemeral messages and expect there to be a variety of apps that explore this new way of sharing,’ said the team responsible for the design at facebook. ‘with slingshot, we saw an opportunity to create something new and different: a space where you can share everyday moments with lots of people at once.’ to get started on slingshot, users need to shoot a photo or video. add some text and color, then ta-da, sling it to a bunch of friends and wait for a visual response.

the app is available on iphone iOS 7 and android jelly bean and kitkat and can be downloaded here.
