segway unveils jurassic park gyrosphere 'transport pod' ahead of CES 2020

live from las vegas: segway has unveiled a self-balancing ‘transporting pod’ called the S-pod that can go up to 24 mph. the electric vehicle works like a motorized wheelchair, allowing its user to sit while they travel around. it is set to be introduced at the consumer tech show CES 2020 and is not yet on sale for the public.

the S-pod uses an adaptive center-of-gravity automatic control system to enable the passenger to easily adjust the speed by handling the knob to change the center of gravity in the pod. the company suggested that the S-pod is perfect for ‘enclosed campuses such as airports, theme parks and malls.’

it’s no surprise then that segway-ninebot said the vehicle drew inspiration from the gyrosphere vehicles in the 2015 movie ‘jurassic world’ that transport visitors around the amusement park. the pod has been designed to offer wide-angle views that provide an expansive viewing field of passengers. the verge reported that it would likely be available to purchase in 2021 or later.

segway-ninebot also unveiled a kick scooter that weighs 22 pounds and has a maximum speed of 12.4 mph. according to reports, the air T15 is powered by a 300-watt hub and has an anticipated range of almost 44 miles. the scooter has a confirmed $699 price tag whilst the transportable pod has no confirmed price details as of yet.
