There’s a foldable and portable mobility in town, and it’s called Ant Formica, a scooter-like vehicle that tucks inside its very own metallic briefcase body with handle, so the riders can take it anywhere with them. The concept scooter-like design has two wheels, with the front one folding into the briefcase and the rear sliding in and out of the body.

On the side of the briefcase, two sleek footrests swivel out, and it’s on here that the rider stands as they move through the roads. This design gives the impression that the vehicle is electric and autonomous since the rider may not need to boost themselves by kicking the pavement (although that can still be possible). The foldable vehicle is designed and conceptualized by Eugenio Costa, Edoardo Graci, Nicolò Tallone, and Giuliano Bonsembiante.

Concept ‘Nanomobility’ vehicle with a steel-like body

Ant Formica is still a concept scooter-like vehicle. The idea of the designers stems from nanomobility, which focuses on being portable, made easy to use, and reliant on other vehicles to stay autonomous energetically. By the looks of it, the concept scooter also zeroes in on ‘intergration’ given all of its parts, including the foldable and movable components, and has the metallic briefcase as the home of them all.

The body is made of steel-like material, and this briefcase is coated with an added translucent exterior to protect the frame. A spurt of seemingly leather wrapping appears on the rounded edges to add a touch of luxury look. There are no rounded handlebars; instead, their shape is boxy, rounded on the edges like the frame, so it’s easier for the riders to hold onto them. This part seems to twist at a 90-degree angle for when the riders need to tuck it into the frame.

The long neck of the concept scooter-like vehicle folds into two. When in use, there might be a clasp or lock to keep it in place, and when the user’s done riding, they just unclasp it and bend the middle so the rest of the parts collapse. As the users unroll Ant Formica to use it, they may see that the front wheel and the base of the long neck meet at the center of the frame and lock up there to stabilize the ride. They only get separated when the user packs it all up at the end of their ride. So far, the foldable and portable scooter-like vehicle is still a concept.
