the device features built-in face detection, recognizing the way a person is using the phone and optimizing conditions accordingly. for example, the front camera identifies a user’s eyes while (s)he is reading or browsing the web and maintains a bright display rather than dimming to conserve battery over time.

‘S voice’ is a natural language user interface for the control of music, sound, text messaging and e-mails, calendar appointments, and camera and photo capture. lastly, a motion sensing system recognizes certain gestures: if a user is messaging a friend and decides instead to call, he need only lift the phone to his ear and ‘direct call’ will complete the dial.

like the ‘s ii’, the new ‘galaxy’ features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with flash, capable of recording HD video at 30fps, and a 1.9-megapixel front camera. its sensors include an accelerometer, RGB light, digital compass, proximity and gyro sensors, and barometer.
