Red Bull’s hypercar RB17 at goodwood festival of speed 2024
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024, which ran between July 11th and 14th, Oracle Red Bull Racing Team and Red Bull Advanced Technologies lifted off the veil for RB17. It’s a track-only hypercar that can be customized by the owner, from the exterior paint color to the interior materials of the vehicle. With this in mind, the RB17 hypercar has two seats and a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Red Bull’s design team placed the engine in the middle of the car as well, not in the front or back. This can help with the weight distribution and handling.
Red Bull gives its track-only hypercar a ‘semi-stressed’ look, which can make the car’s body strong, and the RB17 comes with a naturally aspirated V10 engine, a type of engine with 10 cylinders. It doesn’t use a turbocharger to boost its power, which is less common in modern racing. The hypercar’s engine is red-lined at 15,000 rpm, the engine’s top speed. The higher the RPM (revolutions per minute) of the engine, the more power and faster it gets.

A track-only hypercar with gearbox made from carbon fiber
The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 is an ideal platform for the unveiling of Red Bull’s track-only hypercar RB17, given that it has over 1,200 horsepower. It also weighs less than 2,000 pounds, or 900 kilos. The advanced technologies and racing team combine the two, making the hypercar able to perform as if it were an F1 car.
In fact, the RB17 can achieve lap times, or how fast it goes around the track, similar to F1 race cars, with its top speed exceeding 217 mph or 350 kph. The engine power of the Red Bull hypercar goes to the rear wheels, through a gearbox made from lightweight carbon fiber.

There will only be 50 models of the RB17. Maybe not all of the Red Bull hypercar owners are F1 drivers. There’s no need to worry about it. The design teams assure them that the vehicle operates without needing special skills from its driver or even extensive maintenance.
The hypercar was designed by Red Bull Advanced Technologies and Adrian Newey, the Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Racing. The latter will be leaving Red Bull in 2025. In a way, Red Bull’s track-only hypercar is one of his last gifts to the fans, one that he manifested after mulling around the idea for many years.
