puritalia berlinetta pairs classic styling with a hyper hybrid engine

the puritalia berlinetta, named like a classic two-seater sports car, is more extreme than its balanced appearance highlights. its long bonnet recalls those of supercars from the past, evoking a style that also feels like a gran turismo, and holds a hybrid motor beneath. first debuting at geneva motor show 2019, the design – limited to just 150 models – is also on display at the salon privé show in the UK.

in total, the puritalia berlinetta produces 965 hp and 1,248 Nm of torque. this includes 750 hp and 878 Nm of torque from the V8 5.0l supercharged engine, and 215 hp and 370 Nm of torque from the electric motor. the 5.2 kWh battery takes just over three hours to charge fully. the car then offers four driving modes – each one tailored to different performance, comfort and electric settings – and also a bonus one called ‘individual’ tailored to the user.

with its elongated form, the hybrid’s exterior body starts with a smooth front that is devoid of any traditional cuts between the front bumper and the defined side fenders. this sculpted surface continues just as smoothly to the pillars, windscreen, roof and rear quarter. the body – made from carbon fiber – ends with a wide rear distinguished with a shoulder line and dynamic taillights.

continuing from the exterior, carbon fiber is used inside the car as well as with other high quality materials. this contrasts with aluminum details that notably do not include any mechanical buttons. instead all the car’s functions can be accessed through the central 10-inch touchscreen. the cabin is then completed with elegant sports seats crafted from italian nappa leather.
