Luca Trazzi takes over the Porsche 911 Dakar and applies a full Sonderwunsch design treatment, marking the last and final production of this specific model. The design teams also bring back the look of the car when it won during the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. The Italian architect and industrial designer, who also worked on the Porsche 911 shown at Monterey Car Week 2024, goes for a three-tone paintwork.

The Signalyellow and Gentianbluemetallic fit well into the Rallye Design Package, the one used in the 1984 rally, all the while adding a painted blue line between the two larger colored areas to complete the three-tone palette. This blue line has been named Lampedusablue, which takes after the Italian Mediterranean island, and was specifically created for the car in collaboration with its owner.

LED Matrix headlights with a Lampedusa-colored accent ring

Design first before the history of the vehicle. For the Porsche Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar by Luca Trazzi, even the spokes of the one-off alloy wheels are also painted in Signalyellow and the rim edge Lampedusablue. The Italian architect, his team, the Porsche designers, and the owner of the one-shot car opt for handworked livery as well as LED matrix headlights encircled with a Lampedusa-colored accent ring. Different in color but still complementary, black becomes the shade for the stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear, and sills of the car.

‘911 Dakar’ lettering embroidered in Speedyellow thread

Stepping inside, it’s a yellow fest contrasting black, from the stitching to the trim strips on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. There’s a ‘911 Dakar’ lettering embroidered in Speedyellow thread on the headrests of the Sports Seats Plus. The owner also finds the same shade around the gear selector as a leather insert. When the doors are opened, there are LED projectors that cast the Sonderwunsch logo onto the ground. The customization and refinement of the Porsche Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar by Luca Trazzi and the design teams are made sure to tailor the owner’s taste, who is known as an Italian collector of sports car.

Porsche introduced the 911 Dakar back in November 2022, and there have only been 2,500 examples of it produced. Specs-wise, the vehicle’s standard ground clearance is around 50 millimetres higher than that of a 911 Carrera with sports suspension. It comes with forged aluminium recovery eyelets at the front and rear, widened wheel arches and sills, and a three-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine producing 480 PS (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Nm. Porsche now marks the end of the 911 Dakar model, but now without a bang.

The car manufacturer hands over a unit of the Sonderwunsch special at the Porsche plant in Zuffenhausen. It’s here where Luca Trazzi and the design teams step in to rework the vehicle’s design for the new owner’s customization. But before the car makes its way to the hands of the owner, it shows up on display first at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, for a while. Visitors then can catch a ‘last’ glimpse of the one-off model alongside other cars of the manufacturer’s limited series in the museum’s foyer.
