panache customs restores a 1992 BMW R100 inspired by bavarian landscape

MEET CEIBA – BMW R100 LATEST CUSTOMIZATION

two years ago lyon-based panache customs found a rare BMW R100 R, in very nice conditions, not too far away from its original production site in munich, germany. the bike dated back to 1992 and only counted 27,000 km on its engine when it was acquired to undergo a renovation process. we previously covered their work on a 1977 yamaha XS360.

today we can finally admire ceiba, a true piece of mechanical and artisanal expertise. in fact, the people at panache believe that building a unique motorcycle goes beyond the parts change and the paint job. they go to great lengths to design and engineer every aspect of their bike so that it tells its own story.

produced between 1987 and 1996, the R100 R is the last model of the BMW R series to be equipped with two valves (R2V). rather than a new model, it is more of a tribute to all its predecessors and is equipped with some of the best novelties of the time, amongst which the paralever system.

one of the biggest challenges they had to face was the development of the wiring harness. using modern technology, they managed to incorporate in this 30-year-old base model both an air and oil temperature sensor, a digital odometer, a charging port for the bike’s battery, an RFID key, and a sound reduction valve.
