OPPO launches the Reno8 Pro

Introduced in 2019 by OPPO – a leading global smart device manufacturer – the Reno series aims to elevate visual and physical user experiences for each edition of its smartphones. The all-new Reno8 Pro presents the next-gen of design and color – a burdenless, ergonomic unibody appearance in premium finishes. The designers reveal the journey, below, as they continue the pursuit for perfect form and form.

The OPPO Reno8 Pro touches users’ lives with a truly instinctive handheld and visual sensation. The brand’s designers observed how people hold as well as interact with their phones. This research prompted the concept of creating a burdenless device – a streamlined, ergonomic design. A key element was the design of the camera area that, firstly, helps form the unibody and, secondly, improves the smartphone’s user-friendliness.

The entire back of the phone is covered in a single piece of glass. For the camera module, specifically, this ensures no abrupt transition in tactility for the user nor a build-up of dust around the joins of different materials. In a process that reaches up to 800C in temperature and 120kg in pressure, the glass is forged and shaped using a mold that is polished to eight more nanometer-scale for the smoothest of finishes. The result creates a smooth arc with glass to encase the camera module as one continuous piece.

As the user holds the smartphone, the curvature of the glass unibody fits perfectly in their fingertips. The camera module has been positioned using a 75-degree arc that connects it with the surrounding back cover. Appearing as if floating from the water, the lens rises up prominently in the upper left section on the device. Its macro camera and color temperature sensor as well as the Ring Flash design are composed in the module. The all-in-one structure delivers a design with a burdenless, natural user experience.

At a closer inspection of the design details, a small bevel cut on the mid frame reduces the sharp sensation felt while holding phones normally. This subtle cue ensures a sleek appearance. The ultra-narrow bezels of the 6.7” Ultra-Clear 120Hz AMOLED screen is complemented visually by 2.37mm bottom bezels and 1.48mm on the side. The result offsets the overflowing appearance caused by the combination of the curved screen and right-angle mid frame. The highly immersive visual experience is heightened through the 93.4% Screen-to-Body Ratio. On top of that, the OPPO Reno8 pro is the series’ thinnest model to date at just 7.34mm.

All-new color finishes dress the design

The next-gen design is tailored in the next set of fresh colors introduced to the Reno series. From dreamy tones to fresh vibrancies, new color finishes for Reno8 Pro offers more elegant options. Inspired by porcelain glaze techniques, the two choices – Glazed Green and Glazed Black – dresses up a calming, soothing character that also redefines the traditional black smartphone finish.
