chinese company kandao technology introduces ‘obsidian pro’, a world-first 360° camera that ensures cinematic imaging quality. the 3D panoramic camera features eight APS-C sensors, eight 6K f2.8 lenses with a 14-elements 10-groups optical design, resulting in quality shots with rich detailing, and an excellent performance overall. it is the first 360° camera that has an electronic-control adjustable focus distance and aperture. its 14-stops dynamic range realizes the smooth transition from shadow to highlight.

for its precision-forging technology, ‘high level of perfection’ and neat internal configuration, ‘obsidian pro’ has received the GOOD DESIGN special award, as one of the best 100 design ideas of 2021.

neat and ingenious design

although the product is not particularly light, the layout of internal parts is neat, ingenious, and balanced in weight. the SSD  is housed under the center handle, and eight 195° fisheye lenses are arranged radially and orderly around it. despite the 3D camera’s intimidating volume, the faces of the covers are uniform, and its clean-cut technology and delicate surface treatment give a sense of high quality befitting its performance.
