NIKE and zellerfeld’s 3D printed air max 1000

NIKE and Zellerfeld team up to reimagine the iconic Air Max 1 as 3D printed sneakers called 1000. Unveiled during ComplexCon 2024 in Las Vegas, the 3D printed Air Max receives the same airbag at the bottom of the heel part for soft cushioning. This can protect the wearer’s footing as they walk or run. Knowing Zellerfeld, who has also collaborated with Moncler and produced their own washable shoes, the reimagined NIKE Air Max 1 has breathable fabrics and honeycomb-structured printed midsoles to support the cushioning. 

Like Zellerfeld’s shoes, the NIKE Air Max 1000 may fit whatever foot size of the wearer because they’re custom-fitted using a feet scanner before being 3D printed. The silhouette that debuted at the ComplexCon may be the continuation of the NIKE A.I.R series that the brand introduced in Paris ahead of the Olympics and Paralympics 2024. It continues their mission to seek ‘next-level manufacturing. It’s control, times precision, times expression — all of which are vital to sport and to design,’ says John Hoke, NIKE’s Chief Innovation Officer.

NIKE brings Air technology prototypes to las vegas

Aside from NIKE and Zellerfeld’s Air Max 1000, visitors to ComplexCon 2024, which took place between November 16th and 17th, were able to explore the future of Air shoes and innovation as well as the origins of the trademark NIKE technology and cushioning. The brand brought some of their future potential designs to the event together with Air inventor Frank Rudy’s unit prototypes in the past to showcase the evolution of the brand’s shoes.

There is no news yet whether or not NIKE and Zellerfeld are to release Air Max 1000 on the market. So far, only the silhouette has been presented. In other news, Zellerfeld opens the pool of their reservations for custom 3D printed sneakers. Clients can choose their own designs – at the moment excluding the Air Max 1000 – and before they are printed, their feet are scanned to make sure that the shoes fit them well. For those who have already reserved theirs, the 3D printed sneakers are set to arrive at their doors starting March 2025.
