exhibited during the 2015 milan design week, the AUDI ‘city lab’ on via monte napoleone, displayed pinnacle automobiles from the AUDI group, including supercars from lamborghini and motorbikes from ducati. as well as showcasing the best of transportation models, the showroom also advertized a range of design objects, such as; bicycles, table football and luggage. the stand for the new ‘R8 V10‘ was lit up using moritz waldemeyer‘s dynamic lighting installation.

the traveling lights envision the car’s trail when captured through long exposure photography

‘the R8 is the most dynamic car and I wanted to show its joy of driving. for a long time, I’ve been interested in long exposure photography so if you drive through an exposure then the car leaves these trails. depending on which direction the car has to the camera, you either see the front or the back lights, so it looks as if the car has driven through space in a very dynamic fashion.’ said mortiz waldemeyer.

the lighting installation reflected the innovative developments in AUDI’s lighting technology, through the similar shapes of the front and back lights of the ‘R8’. as well, with its continuous and swirling form, the creation expressed the dynamism of the car, all their brand’s vehicles and the style of their product design. it further highlighted how design is a dialogue and how design thinking is increasingly becoming a protagonist of social developments.
