the ‘G65 final edition’ marks the farewell of mercedes-benz’s iconic AMG V12-engined G-class, strictly limited to 65 units. it is the second of two recent special-edition ‘G’ cars to be released before the next-generation ‘G-wagen’ is released, and this thread of luxurious ‘G-class’-based models, including the maybach ‘G650 landaulet’.

after nearly forty years on the market, the mercedes-benz ‘G-class’ is ready to be refreshed. over a third come from the german-automaker’s AMG division, so it makes sense for it to celebrate the end of ‘G65’ production. most of the changes are aesthetic. on the exterior, the ‘final edition’ is highlighted with a number of bronze accents on the under-guard, bumpers, 21-inch wheels and mirrors. the iconic black grille features a bronze surround, while the running boards and exhaust tips are finished in matte black.

the twin-turbo V12 produces an astounding 630 horsepower and 738 pound feet of torque, allowing the ‘final edition’ to hit hit 60 mph (100 km/h) in 5.3 seconds. stepping in its luxurious interior, it is upholstered in black nappa leather with brown stitching. the carbon fiber trim also features bronze accents, while custom AMG and ‘final edition’ badges adorn the last ‘G-wagen’ in this iconic series.
