mclaren pays tribute to formula one legend alain prost with p1 french livery

the mclarenp1‘ was prepared by their bespoke division, mclaren special operations (MSO), which created a livery rooted from the patriotically french helmet worn by four time formula one world champion, alain prost. the colors match the famous design, with a white carbon fibre bodywork encompassing blue graphics and red highlights. prost actually began his racing career with mclaren in 1980.

on his debut in argentina, prost finished in sixth place earning one point, something achieved by only a handful of drivers. but despite the encouraging debut, alain prost left at the end of season finishing the year 15th in the drivers championship. the mclaren ‘p1’ alain prost edition will be publicly revealed at the 2015 goodwood festival of speed this month. check out the designboom interview with head of design at mclaren, robert melville where he talks about the details of the ‘p1’ and  the future visions of the company.
