lucid air is a 500-mile range electric sedan that charges in minutes

first conceptualized in 2017 and then teased as the new front runner for the fastest-charging and longest-range production electric vehicle in august 2020, the lucid air officially hits all its list-topping promises. the car is the world’s most powerful and efficient electric sedan to date – all crafted in a luxury design. it really does set new standards for sustainable transportation.

lucid air introduces in-house-developed electric motors that might be smaller than market standard but are more powerful and efficient. 1,080 hp is delivered from its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive architecture to push the car to a quarter-mile in 9.9s. compact 113kWh battery packs offer a leading range capacity of 517 miles on a single charge. on top of this, the design charges at rates of up to 20 miles per minute, meaning a 300 mile range can be accumulated in just 20 minutes.

the sedan’s sleek, sculptured exterior design looks so smooth for a reason – its aerodynamics excels to aid range capacity. overall, the car achieves a coefficient of drag of 0.21. on the front, the thin beam of headlights use a new micro lens array system which comprises thousands of ‘light channels’. these provide bright, precise and direct-able lighting in the dark. slim wing-mirrors and a minutely overhanging spoiler at the rear resemble the only defined lines on the body.

to match its high efficiency, the sedan is equally as advanced when it comes to safety. their advanced driver-assistance system, called lucid dreamdrive, is a comprehensive sensor suite with cutting-edge driver monitoring system. 32 sensors – covering vision, radar and ultrasonics – are paired with standard LIDAR and geo-fenced HD mapping to provide assistance in any scenario. the technologies match level 2 and 3 of autonomous development.

to achieve its top performance, a revolutionary automotive package is at the heart of the lucid air. called the lucid space concept, their in-house-developed EV drivetrain is miniaturized to optimize interior cabin space. it reclaims space for passengers and their comfort, most accentuated with the rear seats.

within the light and bright interior, next-gen free-form displays are elegantly integrated into the architecture. a 34-inch curved glass cockpit 5K display seemingly floats above the dashboard. then, a retractable central pilot panel sits in finger-tip reach of the driver and passenger for deeper control of the car’s systems and functions. several highly tactile, precision-milled physical controls embellish the cabin, including ribbed turbines for the steering wheel functions, a volume control roller, and alloy toggle switches for tuning climate settings.

this seamless way of interacting with the vehicle is further enhanced through a collaboration with amazon to integrate their alexa. using voice controls, experience the AI on the go to activate navigation, in-car streaming and even smart home functions for your house.
