topping out at a maximum shutter speed of 1/500 and maximum aperture of f4.5, the plastic camera takes all varieties of 35mm format film, and offers a device ISO range of 100 to 1600. at 17mm, the camera’s minigon ultra-wide angle lens captures a viewing range more typical of fisheye lenses, without the extreme distortion. the focusing range of the ‘lc-wide’ is 0.4 meters to infinity.

three shooting formats span full (36 x 24mm, at an angle of view of 103 degrees), square (24 x 24mm, at 89 degrees), and half-format (17 x 24mm, at 81 degrees). image effects include unlimited multiple exposures and the vignetting and boosted colour saturation and contrast so iconic of experimental photography.

currently available in limited quantities with a retail price of 390 USD, the ‘lomo lc-wide’ measures 4.25 x 2.68 x 1.75 inches (108 x 68 x 44.5mm), and weighs 220 grams without film and battery. a hot-shoe, tripod socket, and cable release socket all integrate easily with standard devices and optional extensions in the ‘lc-wide’ line (such as the instant photography backing, allowing the taking of instantly printable, polaroid-like photos). the camera’s microsite includes shooting tips, a user’s guide, and an image gallery where users can upload their photos.
