In time for CES 2024, which runs from January 9th to 12th, 2024, LG Electronics reveals a two-legged, smart home AI robot that acts as an all-around, independent house manager and can control the appliances and devices on its own. The two-legged AI robot joins LG’s family of Zero Labor Home vision, which aims to improve the lives of the users by lending a hand to their daily activities using electronics and a mission of the brand that will be delved into during CES 2024.

LG’s two-legged AI robot can wheel itself around the house to carry out its tasks. It is equipped with a built-in camera, speaker, and various sensors to gather real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality. It also comes with face and user recognition capabilities through Qualcomm Technologies’ Robotics RB5 Platform. Combining all these features, no wonder the two-legged AI robot can move around independently and switch on and off devices autonomously.

Two-legged AI robot that switches off appliances

LG Electronics’ two-legged AI robot is also a security guard at home. Thanks to its advanced AI technologies that can analyze data in real time, the smart home device can patrol the home when no one is there, moving from one room to another and sending notifications to the user’s smartphone if it finds an open window or any lights left on. Since it can control the appliances on its own, users may not need to worry about leaving the lights on since the two-legged AI robot can turn them off along with other unused devices when no one is at home.

LG also wants its two-legged AI robot to be able to take care of the pets at home so its cameras and sensors detect unusual activities that may happen to the furry friends and send alerts to their owners. When the users arrive home, the robot meets them at the front door and scrutinizes their emotions. With its big round electronic eyes, cameras, and sensors, it analyzes its owners’ emotions through their voice and facial expressions and can play songs that can soothe their moods. After that, the two-legged AI robot can also provide them with transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, or reminders to take medications whenever the users want.

Aside from being able to navigate its way around the users’ home independently, the two-legged AI robot can also understand and comprehend complex conversations, enabling it to engage in talks too. The smart device can interact with the users verbally and even express its emotions either through movements made by its flexible leg joints or its big round electronic eyes. LG employs multi-modal technology to make it work, which combines voice and image recognition along with natural language processing that allows for the home AI robot to understand context and intentions and actively communicate with users.
