what hits 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, 200km/h in 12.8, and has a top speed of 305km/h? it’s not an SUV–it’s the lamborghini urus, the first ever ‘super SUV.’ lamborghini tried injecting super bull DNA into an SUV once before with the LM002 (google ‘lambo rambo’), but the design definitely came out looking more lamboesque this time around.
the urus is the most versatile ghini yet
the intention of the urus is to double lambo’s production by creating a new niche in luxury. the engine is a 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo with 650 hp and 850 nm of torque; the four-wheel drive system is equipped with active torque vectoring and four-wheel steering. and for safety, in case of a mad max style post apocalyptic sand-dirt-gravel-snow hellstorms, there’s adaptive air suspension and active roll stabilization; it can brake from 100km/h to 0 in 33 meters.
the torque is directed mainly to the rear axle, so behavior is sport-oriented
the key difference between the urus and any other lambo (besides its size) is its super sport utility performance, featuring six different driving identities via the (not so) secret, ANIMA selector, for which a nice, heroic video awaits viewing below.
there are six drive modes and a self-defined EGO preference mode
STRADA is the easiest, most comfortable drive, but, of course, a quaint ride in the countryside isn’t what most ghini-guys fantasize about. SPORT is agile, responsive and fun to drive. CORSA is precise. it gives the most and requires the most skill; with great power comes great…yeah. three off-road modes enhance the urus even more. NEVE applies ease and safety to slippery situations; TERRA prepares the vehicle and the driver for off-road conditions, and SABBIA is for fun in the sand. drivers will want to try out all of the experiences they can, but the EGO mode lets drivers rewrite the vehicle’s steering, suspension and traction settings to their own preferences. that’s pretty super. it’s an exotic cross-over and it’s sure to be getting a lot of attention.
