Kingsley re-engineered introduces defender D90 and D110

Kingsley Re-engineered has a knack for versatility, at least with their recent 4×4 Defenders. Owners have a range of roof choices, including a hardtop, a panoramic glass roof, an open top with a ‘bikini’ cover, or a full-canvas covering. Inside the Land Rover vehicle, they can opt for heated seats and tire monitoring systems. Audiophiles can consult with the company if there are specific speakers or audio enhancements they want to add to their Defender.

A petrol-powered V8 engine and brake kits are also available for further customization. Apple users may appreciate the wireless Apple CarPlay integrated into the refreshed Land Rover vehicle. Unveiled at the Salon Privé Blenheim Palace Concours on August 28th, 2024, Kingsley Re-engineered introduced its Defender vehicle in both D90 and D110 configurations. The D90 is on display at the event until August 31st, 2024.

Land rover with electronically controlled suspension

For the interior of the 4×4 Defender, owners can choose between the original trim or Nappa leather and Alcantara accents. The D90 even features sandstone leather with Spinneybeck leather weave seat centers, which may be exclusive to this model. When Kingsley Re-engineered says they focus on the exterior color combinations of the Land Rover vehicle, they mean completing all the paintwork on-site. This means that the production, painting, and building of the vehicle are done within a few hundred yards of each other, which might be a first for the company.

If the owners wish, they can opt for custom ceramic and PPF coatings for a durable finish. The vehicle has an electronically controlled suspension that adjusts how the car handles bumps and uneven terrain to maintain a smooth ride and good control, regardless of the road conditions. Even the brakes have been upgraded to include larger front calipers—the part of the brake that squeezes the brake pads against the wheel to stop the car—so the Defender can stop more quickly and safely.

All-terrain tires for surfaces like dirt, mud, or pavement

The Kingsley 4×4 Defender comes with all-terrain tires, designed to handle various surfaces like dirt, mud, or pavement. It comes with 18-inch lightweight wheels in anthracite color. They are strong and light enough to take on off-road paths. The company has upgraded the Land Rover vehicle’s engine cooling system with a full alloy radiator and electric cooling fans. These can help prevent the engine from overheating, especially during tough driving conditions and warmer seasons, ensuring that the vehicle maintains its optimal performance.

There are a few differences between the D90 and D110 configurations. The D90 has a shorter wheelbase—or the distance between the front and rear wheels—for more compact and easier maneuvering. Because it’s smaller and lighter, the D90 is great for both city driving and off-road adventures, especially in places where agility is important. Despite its compact size, it can still accommodate between two and six people, depending on how it’s configured.

The Kingsley Re-engineered Defender 110 has a longer wheelbase, making the interior of the Land Rover vehicle more spacious. The D110 can accommodate more people, fitting between two and nine seats. This makes the model more ideal for larger groups or families.

Because of its longer wheelbase, the D110 provides a smoother ride, which may be more comfortable on longer trips. Traditionally, the Kingsley team uses a restored, original engine and transmission setup—called the powertrain—for their vehicles. But for the D90 on display at the Salon Privé event, they equipped it with a 4.2-liter V8 engine.

This upgraded engine allows the vehicle to exceed 100 mph, and it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds. The engine produces 220 bhp and 360 Nm of torque at 3,250 rpm. Kingsley Re-engineered also offers the option to upgrade the gearbox, with four to eight speeds, as well as to install Chevrolet LS3/LT1 V8 engines, which are high-performance engines often used in sports cars.

The new Kingsley Defender series, available in both D90 and D110 configurations, is now available to order for worldwide delivery. Prices start from 140,000 GBP (plus VAT), with all builds continuing to be handcrafted at Kingsley’s Oxfordshire-based headquarters.
