ken okuyama transforms the ferrari 599 into the kode57 supercar

ken okuyama’s ‘kode57’ is a 702 horsepower V12 open-cockpit supercar designed to recall classic cars from the 1950’s. created by ken kikoyuki okuyama, the former head of design at ferrari and pininfarina, he has drafted automobiles such as the ferrari ‘enzo’ and the maserati ‘birdcage 75th’ concept. strictly limited to five examples, it follows the rare ‘kode9‘ sports coupé that can be mostly spotted in japan.

the ‘kode57’ supercar was developed by ken okuyama cars, the coachbuilding company of okuyama’s tokyo-based studio ken okuyama design. based on a ferrari ‘599’ chassis, it maintains the donor vehicles’s 6.0 liter V12 engine with a reduced curb-weight at just 3,200 pounds (1,450 kg). the ‘kode57’ shares certain features with the ‘enzo’, like the thrusting front-end design, yet has many unique design cues, like aerodynamic humps sculpted at the rear of the cockpit and expressive di-hedral doors. the supercar also boasts an aluminum space-frame beneath its carbon-fiber bodywork, with a classic long-nose, low-slung proportions, and a minimal windshield to convey its sporting credentials.
