JAGUAR’S BOLD REBRAND LEAPS NEW IDENTITY
The famed Jaguar has a new leap. The British marque’s rebranding journey turned heads as it launched the philosophy to ‘Copy Nothing’ two weeks before Miami. This ethos promised a luxury design brand who produced electric-only cars. The Jaguar Type 00 embodies this transformation, rich with ‘Exuberant Modernism’ – a key mark of the brand’s new identity. Inspired by the mastery of light seen in James Turrell’s work as well as that of other artists, the concept car translates space, color, and perception into an artistic, sensorial experience that just happens to be on four wheels.

JAGUAR COPIES NOTHING WITH CONCEPT CAR DESIGN
The Jaguar Type 00 concept is built on a new dedicated JEA architecture, designed from scratch to ensure cutting-edge electric performance. This platform aims to offer engaging handling, luxurious comfort, and a range of 478 miles per charge. While Type 00 remains a concept, its production version – a four-door GT – will launch in late 2025, advancing the brand’s vision of luxury electric mobility.
like the upright front, the rear’s full-width taillight with horizontal graphics marks its modern identity
Reminiscent of the E-Type, the Jaguar Type 00’s exterior redefines the norms of EV design with its elongated bonnet, sweeping fastback roofline, and distinctive boat-tail proportions. The satin Rhodon Rose finish, nicknamed Miami Pink, accentuates its smooth yet dramatic surfaces, while a flush upright front with Jaguar’s new typeface and full-width taillight with horizontal graphics both mark its modern identity. Another highlight includes brass ingots etched with the iconic Jaguar leaper, which deploy from flush to reveal rear-facing cameras.

Inside, the Type 00’s design continues the boldness of its exterior. Dramatic butterfly doors and a ‘pantograph’ tailgate sets the scene for this meticulously crafted interior. The cabin is defined by three linear brass elements, including a central 3.2m-long spine supporting floating instrument panels and seats. A blend of travertine stone and Kvadrat textiles creates a warm, tactile atmosphere.

The concept car’s experiential focus is extended and epitomized by its three unique totems, crafted from brass, travertine, and alabaster respectively. Stored in a power-operated compartment accessed from the exterior side, these totems can be inserted into the center console to customize the interior’s ambient lighting, soundscape, and graphics. Each material’s inherent properties influence the cabin’s mood, enabling occupants to transform the role of the car to tailor their sensory journey.

As a centerpiece of Jaguar’s presence at Miami Art Week 2024, the Type 00 stands in the spotlight of the ‘Copy Nothing’ installation in Miami Design District, where luxury fashion meets architecture. At Art Miami, ‘Jaguar. Exuberance’ curates an exhibition of emerging artists exploring the brand’s new visual identity through original works. Follow along with designboom as we continue Jaguar’s artistic journey during the week.
