seven years ago, the impossible project grabbed the reins from polaroid to head a new generation of instant film production. for their next endeavor, the company will make its own camera called ‘I-5’. like old polaroids, it doesn’t embrace a great deal of camera controls. with just a shutter button, exposure dial and a focus selector, the viewfinder is an antiquated square frame on top of the body. the main lens is wrapped with a flash that uses an ambient light sensor to determine how much actual light is necessary for the subject. embracing a couple new technologies, impossible project added a companion app that allows for fancier adjustments and an USB port for recharging. the impossible project ‘I-5’ will go on sale on may 10, 2016 and will work with their 600 type film.
