military facepaint resistant to heat from explosions image via © aaron amat chemists at the university of southern mississippi have developed a face paint that could protect troops in the military from the heat of explosions. based off a silicon formula that deflects heat up to 1000 degrees fahrenheit, the non-toxic paper uses thin layers of tintable makeup as a safeguard. the new facial application could protect skin for as long as 15 seconds before reaching a high enough temperature to achieve first-degree burns. in some tests, the paint provided protection for as long as 60 seconds, giving soldiers enough time to evacuate a dangerous situation.
