Genesis unveils new concept electric SUV, neolun

Genesis introduces its new concept electric SUV, Neolun, featuring front seats that swivel 180 degrees and rear-passenger screens that unfold from the car’s ceiling. The car company unveiled the concept vehicle at its Genesis House in New York, in time for the 2024 New York International Auto Show, slated to open to the public on March 29th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Having a pair of rotating front-row seats means they can face the rear passengers for an impromptu gathering or even a couch-like lounging experience while parked or on the road.

Inside the concept electric SUV, neolun

Genesis’ new concept electric SUV, Neolun, brings cashmere and silk leather to its seating materials, painting the interior with a lush purple hue. The warm cashmere and matte leather are dyed with natural Korean pigments, accented with translucent materials and finished with real aluminum. For the floor, Genesis opts for dark wood, complementing the cashmere and leather palette. This base also draws from the Korean tradition of underfloor heating, as the concept electric SUV has a low-power radiant heating film set up beneath the passengers’ feet.

Glancing at the dashboard, Neolun enjoys a 24.6-inch adjustable display. It moves vertically and is integrated into the dashboard to clear out some space and create a more expansive front design. The display works with voice commands, allowing the driver’s hands to remain on the steering wheel. When the concept electric SUV is stationary, the driver and passengers can access entertainment offerings on the display. Whatever movie, for example, is played on the display, it is also projected onto the two foldable screens positioned above the rear passengers, allowing each of them to watch the film on their own display.

Sound enthusiasts may appreciate Genesis’ iconic ‘Crystal Sphere,’ which acts as both an artistic centerpiece and a Hi-Fi speaker for the concept electric SUV Neolun. It is designed to create a 3D audio experience resembling a concert hall and works with the other speakers in the cabin, which are also strategically placed so the driver and passengers can experience surround sound when they listen to music, watch movies, take calls and more. When the cruising is over, everyone can step in and out of the electric vehicle through the B-pillarless coach doors that swing open in opposite directions like butterfly wings, providing a more spacious exit and entryway for Neolun.

Genesis applies continuous line headlights

Stepping out, users can see the design philosophy that Genesis applies to its Neolun. The concept electric SUV vehicle lights up with two-line headlights, replacing the traditional lighting design with linear strokes. These line lamps extend from the headlights to the side repeaters and tail lamps, illuminating the electric vehicle in a non-invasive style. As of publishing the story, the concept electric SUV Neolun comes in Midnight Black and Majestic Blue, two colors influenced by Korea’s nighttime skyline. Genesis is set to display the electric SUV at the 2024 New York International Auto Show along with its other concept models, including the GV60 Magma Concept, G80 Magma Special, and the X Gran Berlinetta Concept.
