gaussin unveils world's first 100% hydrogen or all-electric skateboard truck

on its mission to clean up freight transportation, french engineering company gaussin has developed a skateboard platform for trucks that’s either 100% hydrogen powered or all-electric. designed for class 8 tractor and straight trucks, ranging from 18t to 44t, the gaussin skateboard is a versatile and modular system that can be configured to different uses. key features of the design include an ultra lightweight chassis and an open interface that means it can integrate autonomous driving technology.

the versatile truck platform comes in two versions: a hydrogen powered system for long distances or an all-electric setup for short trips. the hydrogen powered system offers up to 800 km of autonomy and a refueling time of less than 20 minutes. alternatively, the all-electric setup provides 300 km of autonomy and a 3 minute battery swap. with these two options, the gaussin skateboard is suited for either long haul or short haul applications.
