the fiat ‘500X’ compact crossover is on display at the 2014 paris motor show to exhibit the brand-new dimensions introduced to the 500 family. it is available in two versions; one that is characterized by the dynamic, metropolitan style, and the second offering a more off-road appearance and functionality. the 4.25m long, 1.8m wide and 1.60m high car arrives with a choice of six petrol and two turbo-diesel engines that also comes with three types of transmission – manual, 9-speed automatic (a first for the brand) or a twin-clutch 6-speed automatic. customization in the form of more options is continued with both two- or four-wheel drive configurations also being applicable.

mechanics wise, the fiat has a dual clutch sequential automatic transmission that provides more driving comfort and a sport feel. it does this by allowing rapid shifts by releasing one clutch and engaging the other simultaneously. as well as this a smooth delivery of power is secured and the rear-axle disconnects seamlessly when switching self-regulatory between two- and four-cycle drive in order to have full time torque management.

inside, the automobile has ample of space that is complimented with premium materials and fabrics that reflect the brand’s italian heritage. the spacious interior is demonstrated by the 350 liter luggage compartment and provides passengers with a comfortable ride. it also features an infotainment equipment called Uconnect, which is a 5 or 6.5inch touchscreen complete with a bluetooth interface, aux-in connector, USB and SD port. the live system also allows customers to use apps on board through integration with smartphones.
