evo WA yacht's modular deck extends at the push of a button

last year, italian-shipyard evo yachts launched its innovative ‘evo 43‘ semi shape-shifter. featuring an expandable deck that grows into a spacious platform for sun lounging, it can shrink back to a slimline profile when it’s time to cruise along. the ’43’s’ successor, the new evo ‘WA’, boasts exactly the same style of extendable deck coupled with a more open, modular plan.

at the push of an ‘iPad’s‘ touchscreen, the evo yachts’ ‘WA’ stern bulkheads extend out to the sea, opening up 269 sq ft (25 sq m) of deck space for lounging, sunbathing, and entertaining up to 12 guests. the electro-hydraulic transformation takes less than 30 seconds, and the italian manufacturer explains that this system allows its 43-foot yacht to carry a deck as large as boats twice their size.

the shipyard offers a host options for customizing its spacious 269 sq-ft sea terrace. a rotating stern ‘transformer’ can serve as a diving platform, bathing ladder, tender lift, or gangway. additional features include chaise-lounges, cushions that act as both benches and floating pads, a concealable cooking area with an induction stove, BBQ grill, or teppanyaki griddle, plus a retractable table for serving. beneath its deck, the ‘WA’ yacht has two cabins and one bathroom. the modular yacht is powered by two 435 hp volvo ‘penta’ engines, that propel it to a top speed of 40 knots (74 km/h), with a comfortable cruising speed of 32 knots (59 km/h). the 1000 l (264-US gal) fuel tank supports a range of roughly 300 nautical miles (556 km).
