In time for its physical debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 17th, 2023, the technology company HiPhi unveils the concept of HiPhi A, an electric hypercar that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 2 seconds. HiPhi A stems from the collaboration between HiPhi and WESAIL New Energy Automotive and is set to be produced in a limited series run, with a schedule to begin production and delivery in the first quarter of 2025. For now, the electric hypercar promises a top speed of almost 300 km/h, equipped with HiPhi’s in-house-developed high-performance powertrain for both its battery pack and motors.

The electric drive system in HiPhi A is based on an 800V platform, using a layout where there’s one motor driving the front and two motors driving the rear. The setup helps deliver a peak power of up to 1,305 PS, and these motors are designed with carbon-fiber rotors, upgraded cooling technologies, and the ability to maintain high power output for more than 30 minutes. Despite these features, the installed motors are expected to be lightweight and compact, produce no noise, and enable the owners to upgrade them easily when desired. HiPhi A is also managed by the mobility technology company, Human Horizons.

Made of carbon fiber and aircraft-grade titanium alloy

Design-wise, HiPhi A is an introduction to the future aesthetics that HiPhi wants to adopt in their next electric vehicles. Materials such as carbon fiber and matte-paint finish outlining the electric hypercar’s body may also emerge in the future car designs of the company. For now, the HiPhi A enjoys a set of wide front and rear wing panels and extra-wide tires that bring out its sporty look alongside luxurious detailing for the interior, which includes a digital cockpit and a front-row driver-focused setup.

HiPhi A adopts the use of the first aircraft-grade TC4 titanium alloy in its interior and around its exterior trim, brushing against aluminum alloys, nano-ceramics, and other materials in the chassis. HiPhi also foresees a collaboration with the Intelligent Manufacturing System Center of ShanghaiTech University. The plan will undertake the complete process of closed-loop development, including material powder selection, innovative structural design, printing process simulation, and production process monitoring.

capable of releasing a peak power of 1.5 megawatts

Circling back on its technologies, the electric hypercar’s battery is dubbed capable of releasing a peak power of 1.5 megawatts. It is designed with a strong bottom shield made of carbon fiber – similar to a bulletproof vest – and a fire-resistant top cover, also made of carbon fiber. HiPhi plans to install its very own cloud control battery technology to sustain its good performance and safety. HiPhi A’s frame has some advanced features too. It can steer the rear wheels, adjust damping continuously for a smoother ride, and has a nearly equal distribution of weight between the front and rear wheels which helps the car handle itself well.

HiPhi also has its eyes on integrating Vectoring Control which can improve how the car turns corners and brakes. The technology company says it leads to a 15 percent improvement in cornering and a 10 percent improvement in braking. David Ding, HiPhi Founder, Chairman, and CEO, says that ‘the combination of HiPhi’s luxury product concept, first-class development and industrial capabilities with WESAIL New Energy Automotive’s Apollo supercar elements, combined with the technical expertise and innovation from ShanghaiTech University, makes HiPhi A what it is – a true work of art for this new era.’
