Project: ARES is an electric cafe racer
A retro-looking motorcycle fitted with modern technology is how the new entrant Real Motors describes its first model, Project: ARES. An electric cafe racer inspired by sci-fi movies, the design of this two-wheeler suits neon-lit dark roads, imagining the rider’s lurched-forward stance as they take on high-speed riding with a quiet engine roar, backed by its electric capabilities.

Real motors designs the motorcycle with curved, open body
The eye-catching feature springs right off the bat through the curved, open body Real Motors went for. The casing hides the engine and batteries, yet remains visible depending on the passersby’s position. The orange streak adds vibrant zest to the design, and the printed text and numbers in thick font styles evoke a graphic designer’s flair. A single red lighting line at the rear of the motorcycle glows when the electric cafe racer is parked or braking.
Electric technology with analogue buttons
For Project: ARES, there’s a concept that Real Motors calls ‘Electric Analogue.’ In a nutshell, it’s their attempt to make technology, such as the electric batteries and motors, complementary to the classic design of a cafe racer, acting subtly rather than upfront, further emphasizing the retro style over modern splash. In this way, riders can feel the electrical and mechanical components working together, all the while keeping the buttons and controls of the motorcycle simple, reminiscent of the old days or the typical design of a two-wheeler.
As of publishing the story, the images shown are part of the engineering evaluation prototype and don’t represent the final configuration. The electric cafe racer is under development, with several prototypes underway. Real Motors plans to release production models in late 2025. While nothing is set yet, the startup believes that Project : ARES will be comparable to 700-900cc ICE motorcycles in terms of power, have a starting price under 20,000 USD, and be produced in limited quantities. The electric motorcycle’s waitlist is already open for cafe racer fans.
