Dust Moto introduces Hightail, its electric dirt bike that has a bulletproof powertrain, a swappable battery, and a setup without a clutch, gear shifting, or foot controls. The design team says that most features of the gas-powered motorbikes are still present in the electric dirt bike Hightail, but this time, the ride hops and cruises less quietly because of its green engine.

The vehicle comes with a bulletproof powertrain so it can weather all kinds of extreme conditions while on the road. It has motorsport-grade helical reduction gears and heavy-duty roller bearings. The high-speed motor under it can deliver extreme torque and power density of up to 42 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, all in a compact casing made of steel-like material.

no clutches, gear shiftings, or foot controls on board

There are no clutches, gear shiftings, or foot controls on board Dust Moto’s electric dirt bike, Hightail. ‘Just flip the switch and go,’ say the bike team, and that’s because they want the rider to focus on the ride itself without worrying about extra steps to boost or power up the vehicle. Thanks to this, the vehicle is suitable for both beginners and seasoned riders. The electric drivetrain is also virtually maintenance-free, so that the electric dirt bike can just go whenever the rider wants.

When it comes to its battery, it comes with a 4.4kWh swappable battery with high-power cells designed to be durable and lasting. In case the rider needs to change it, they can just pull it out in under a minute. The swappable battery is also automotive-grade safety and an IP67 rating for water resistance. It can maintain 80 percent of its capacity with over 600 discharge cycles, and it lasts with the help of the optimized thermal management installed, the system that makes sure the battery reaches peak performance in all conditions.

two hours of continuous riding, or 35 miles of cruising

Dust Moto’s electric dirt bike Hightail can offer riders up to two hours of continuous riding, or around 35 miles of hard riding, on a single charge. The vehicle has a compact design, with its shorter wheelbase and less seat height compared to a conventional 250cc bike, and it’s also lightweight given that it weighs less than 100 kilos.

These allow for increased maneuverability. Because it is all electric, the dirt bike comes with a 55dB quiet custom electric drivetrain, whose volume is similar to a typical conversation voice. The pre-orders are open, and Dust Moto plans to deliver the first batch of the electric dirt bike Hightail in late 2025.
