diamond atelier's custom-built BMW R nineT neo-racer motorcycle

dark, powerful, aggressive, arrogant, sublime; yet again diamond atelier delivers a unique and surprising custom-build, this time with the ‘DA#9 BMW R nineT’ motorcycle. following the camouflaged ‘DA#4 BMW R nineT’ that was featured on designboom in 2016, the latest creation characterizes a champion neo-racer, merging high performance with ducati-esque styling and one-off fabrications. significantly, the exposed front trellis frame, coated in the bike’s secondary color, offsets and transforms the negative space with an italian influence that would normally seem wrong on a motorrad, but in reality, looks so right.

highlighting the craftsmanship of diamond atelier, a munich-based production run by tom konecny and pablo steigleder, the ‘DA#9 BMW R nineT’ motorcycle features a new, hand-fabricated subframe. welded to the rear load bearing cradle, it supports the custom seat base which is now stitched with premium black hide. beneath, the bike boasts a pumped-up fuel tank that spurts out triple flutes on either side. as well as holding an extreme amount of gas, the tank also functions by housing all the electronic components needed to run a modern BMW engine.

its aggressive appearance is accentuated with a heavily bobbed front fender, low mounted MT headlight and its paint job. this complements the performance delivered by the two-cylinder engine, which, enginered by andreas reh from rehcing, has a capacity of 1400cc and 145bhp. additionally, this nature is further enhanced with wilbers’ ZF fork setup, blackline shock, and steering damper to ensure precise handling.
