biarritz born and bred: deus ex machina customs yamaha XSR700 into la bombe bike

deus ex machina – the fanatic creators of custom motorcycles, vehicles and more complex machines – embraces its DIY mentality with la bombe. the design of the customized, surfer lifestyle-inspired yamaha XSR700 is completely biarritz born and bred in the workshop’s french studio.

conceptualized by the idea of ease-to-install, the deus ex machina la bombe motorcycle can be customized simply with a couple of allen keys. its fiberglass kit, layered with chop and resin, was built by experts at the australia-based handcraft fiberglass. with bright and clean white fenders, the sculpted monocoque sits over the original’s fuel tank, before being bolted down to the frame. at the rear, a classic SC-project conic 70 exhaust adds some extra power – and especially noise – to the bike.

the easy-to-fit monocoque is painted in a slick, subtle two-tone grey combo, which perfectly compliments the popping OEM gold on the wheels and the now iconic bombshell logo. a thin saddle seat in either leather or vinyl completes the remodelled design. accessory specialists S2 concepts adds some final touches to the deus ex machina la bombe with a wrap-around number plate and indicator kit. an orbital light from australia-based collaborator purpose built moto – who are also renowned for custom bikes, here – is used as the underseat taillight with a dramatic twin set-up.
