free spirit motorcycles, a small professional brand from slovakia, builds bikes for free-spirited, urban people who create the new culture of modern cities by fusing the old and modern technologies. it marries a modern lifestyle with retro designs, offering bikers rides for riding and not for display. for its new offering, the brand has unveiled ‘cubus’, a custom-designed suzuki GN250 that pays tribute to cubism, an early twentieth-century style and movement that use geometric shapes.

 

during its render, slavo danko, the man behind the brand and the re-design, posted the motorcycle’s exhaust system where two stainless pipes meet in a specially designed muffler and are finished with stainless core and aluminum 3d-milled sides. ‘after the satin-black paint of the stainless parts and the sand-blasting and brushing of aluminum, everything will be riveted together by sealing blind rivets,’ says designer and owner danko.

fabrication process

 

after the fabrication process, the result gives away a sleek and matte-looking motorcycle that is built with a custom seat and separate gas tanks. danko also posted a short video on how he assembled the parts in the upper body of the vehicle, latching them one by one onto the frame as if they were bricks and puzzle pieces. the steel frame of the body exudes sturdiness while the black coating and finish lend the motorcycle an aura of sophistication. the designer expresses his content as he compares the 3d render of the motorcycle from the actual products and finds no difference.

bike customization

 

to give an overview of his experience, danko shares that his bike customization knowledge circles back to the 80s when he rode motocross. ‘at that time, I made my first fiberglass custom tank and sewed my first seat on a vintage sewing machine of my grandma. 30 years later, I decided to get back to customization. I have built a new workshop from scratch and started to work on my first professional custom project. for now, it is just a side job since I am still working as a brand director in an advertising agency.’
