bentley continental GT number 9 limited to 100 hand-built models

in celebration of their centenary year, bentley reveals the ‘ultimate collector’s version of the all-new continental GT‘ at the 2019 geneva motor show. bathed in their renowned colors, the car is heavily influenced by the brand’s motorsport history. only 100 examples of the bentley continental GT number 9 will be hand-built by mulliner.

as a reflection of their history, the bentley continental GT number 9 is a tribute to sir henry ralph stanley ‘tim’ birkin – one of the original ‘bentley boys’ of the 1920s and 30s. he helped pioneer the original number 9, which was a supercharged ‘blower’ that he then raced at the 1930 le mans 24 hours. he commissioned the production of a series of four and a half liter models that significantly increased its power from around 100 bhp to 175 bhp.

shown at the 2019 geneva motor show, the collector’s car is distinctive with a number 9 badgework and a bold, matching front grille graphic. its flowing body curves and powerful lines are bathed in a choice of classic colors: their viridian green or beluga exterior paint. the design is then perfected with 22-inch mulliner driving specification wheels styled in the same colors.

inside the continental GT, the cabin is available in either cumbrian green or beluga heritage hides, which increases the gloss levels on the seats and inner door panel. the center console of the uniquely crated dashboard is coated in engine spin – a popular racing car and aviation finish from the 1920s and 30s that limited light reflection. the dash also features an exclusive british jaegar clock face that is reminiscent of the original number 9’s ‘blower’ dials. the collector’s car is completed with 18k gold plated organ stops and a serial production number treadplates – 1 to 100.
