barq unveils ‘rena max’ electric scooter

abu dhabi mobility startup barq introduces ‘rena max’, a new prototype electric scooter tailored to the needs of middle-eastern and north african (MENA) delivery riders. designed by world-renowned firm CALLUM, the electric two-wheeler features swappable battery technology, a range of up to 150km per charge from the 5.6kWh lithium unit, and a 97kph top speed from the 9kW electric motor. in addition, the scooter features an insulated top box with a food-safe lining, configurable shelving, and an integrated thermometer, facilitating last-mile delivery in the MENA region.

featuring multiple engineering innovations

the rena max was created by barq (find more here) in collaboration with saudi delivery platform jahez (find more here), and kuwaiti food group americana (find more here). the innovative two-wheeler was designed by CALLUM (find more here) as a purpose-built electric scooter that can contribute to tackling the global challenge of inefficient costs and low productivity within the rapidly growing last-mile delivery market.

besides its swappable battery technology and 9kW electric motor, the scooter also features a reverse gear, multiple riding modes, and an integrated touch screen. in addition, its multiple engineering innovations include battery cooling, IoT, fully integrated software, custom-made storage and areas designed to improve the quality of deliveries through temperature control. the electronically controlled locking system logs and tracks all box open and closing for additional security. using rider feedback to improve useability, the rena max has an improved rider position for comfort, a special textured seat to lower heat during prolonged use, USB connectivity and LED daytime running lights.
