british sportscar manufacturer apex motors has unveiled its AP-0 concept electric sports car. set to go into production in late 2022, the carbon wrapped racer has a range of 320 miles and a 0-62mph time of just 2.3 seconds.

the AP-0 weighs a significantly lightweight 1200kg thanks to its carbonfibre tub. that uses modular spaceframes and a centre spine linking the front and rear. the bodyshell is wrapped around the tub and spine but still exposes the carbonfibre chassis.

a 90kwh battery pack mounted to the floor at the front and the back powers the motor to produce 650bhp. apex says 320 miles is available on a single charge and a ccs charger stacks up 80 per cent power in less than 15 minutes.

the AP-0 is capable of level 3 autonomy, which includes automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance. however, there are enough cameras and sensors to enable level 4 autonomy, which apex says is possible if ‘safely achievable’. it also has holographic augmented reality display and augmented reality race instructor helps drivers learn new race tracks.

apex plans to begin manufacturing in the uk from Q4 2022 with pricing starting at £150,000 (approx. us$185,000).
