for 2015, porsche has introduced their first plug-in electric SUV which enables pure electric driving. the cayenne S E-hybrid has been given a face-lift with an entirely new front end, fenders and hood, and has a lithium-ion traction battery with energy capacity of 10.8 kwh. the latest update to the sports utility vehicle results in double the power output; from 47 to 95 horsepower, meaning it can reach an all-electric top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph). combined with a 333 horsepower 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine, the hybrid achieves a total system power of 416 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and produces 435 lb-ft of torque. with its 8-speed tiptronic S transmission, the cayenne zips from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds and maxes out at a top speed of 247 km/h (151 mph).

the latest design boasts a sharper silhouette with precise lines, light refracting edges and features airblades – air fins located on the right and left of the vehicle’s front end used to guide air to the intercoolers for cooling.

the rear section of the new cayenne has also been thoroughly updated. the layout of the rear lights creates a three-dimensional effect; the brake lights – like the LED daytime running lights in the front – exists in four elements. the license plate recess, tailgate handle and lights are now integrated more elegantly into the tailgate lid. the vehicle’s horizontal lines were also re-designed, giving the vehicle an even fuller stance on the road.

inside the cockpit, the driver receives a new multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles as standard. its look and functions are based on the steering wheel of the 918 spyder.
